Discovering Cappadocia: Balloon Rides, Cave Hotels and Hiking Trails
·Involatus Redaktion

Cappadocia feels like another world. Over millennia, volcanic ash and erosion have shaped fairy chimneys, valleys and caves that people still live in today.
The balloon ride
The classic experience starts just before sunrise in Göreme. Book for the first morning of your stay – if wind cancels the flight, you still have backup days.
Don't miss
- Göreme Open-Air Museum – rock-cut churches with frescoes
- Derinkuyu underground city – up to eight levels deep
- Rose Valley and Red Valley – the ideal sunset hike
Getting there
The nearest major airport is Kayseri (ASR), about an hour from Göreme. Many hotels offer a shuttle; a rental car is worth it for exploring the valleys.
Tip: Cave hotel nights are especially pleasant in spring and autumn – mild days, cool nights.
