Berlin Brandenburg Airport: Cheap Flights and Transport

Berlin Brandenburg Airport Willy Brandt lies in Schönefeld about 18 kilometres from the city centre and became the capital's only airport when it opened in 2020 and replaced Tegel and Schönefeld. Operated by FBB, it handles flights in the adjoining Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, the latter used by low-cost carriers, with the railway station beneath Terminal 1.

To Turkey, Turkish Airlines flies several times a day to Istanbul Airport; Pegasus and AJet serve Sabiha Gökçen, SunExpress flies to Antalya, Izmir and Anatolian cities, and Corendon and other holiday carriers add Antalya in summer. Nouvelair links Berlin with Monastir and Tunisair with Tunis, Aegean flies to Athens, and Air Cairo and other airlines serve Hurghada. Thanks to the large easyJet and Ryanair bases, low-cost connections within Europe are plentiful as well.

For the cheapest flights from Berlin, compare the non-stop Pegasus, AJet and SunExpress services with Turkish Airlines connections via Istanbul; midweek dates, the off-season and early booking lower the price. Adding nearby Leipzig/Halle and Dresden to your search and pricing outbound and return separately also helps. The prices on this page are the current lowest Berlin fares found by our searches.

From the station beneath Terminal 1, the FEX airport express reaches Berlin Hauptbahnhof in about half an hour, and S-Bahn lines S9 and S45 as well as RE and RB regional trains serve the city centre and Brandenburg. The X7 and X71 express buses connect with the U7 underground at Rudow. Timetables and fares change, so check the airport website for current details.

• Taxi: ranks are in front of the terminals; the ride to the centre takes 35 to 50 minutes depending on traffic.
• Car: the A113 motorway connects the airport with the Berlin ring road and the city centre; car-hire desks are in Terminal 1.
• Tickets: the airport lies in Berlin fare zone C, so you need an ABC ticket for the city.

Terminal 1 offers duty-free, numerous shops and restaurants, currency exchange, ATMs, a pharmacy, a prayer room and children's play areas; Wi-Fi is free. There is a Lufthansa Lounge and independent lounges such as the Tempelhof Lounge that can be entered for a fee. Terminal 2 is a simpler low-cost terminal, and the Steigenberger hotel is within walking distance of the terminals.

The multi-storey car parks next to the terminals are for short stays, while the surrounding open-air areas and remote car parks cover long-term parking with shuttles to the terminal. Booking online is considerably cheaper; current rates are listed on the airport website.
